The course is offered in association with BCN languages, one of the longest-established and most successful language schools in Barcelona.
Classes are held in BCN's centre in Gracia, Barcelona's most youthful and dynamic "barrio". The school is well-equipped and has a large common area for trainees, featuring computers with internet access, English and Spanish books and magazines, a photocopier, and coffee/drinks machines. For lovers of fresh fruit and veg, there's a colourful local market right behind the school!

Gracia was historically a separate settlement and was only joined to Barcelona with the creation of the huge “Eixample” area at the beginning of the twentieth century. Perhaps as a result of this history, Gracia often seems to swim against the current of mainstream Barcelona.
The barrio (neighbourhood) retains the original network of narrow streets and broad, tree-lined plazas (squares) of two centuries ago, overlooked by the original townhouses, which have thankfully survived the development frenzy that has occurred in other parts of Spain over the last forty years. As a result Gracia has the look and feel, perhaps not of a village, but certainly of a thriving provincial town.
Over the last two decades, Gracia has attracted a young ,cosmopolitan crowd, part hippy, part grunge, part creative and part “fashion”, and as a result its shaded streets are now full of organic food shops, open air cafes, small art galleries and independent cinemas, as well as a host of different bars and pubs.
The barrio is now perhaps the most popular place for a night out among young (and not so young) Barceloneses, and on summer nights, the streets are literally buzzing with life until the early hours.
For those of you looking to get away from the more touristy areas of the city, you should find Gracia a refreshing change, and if not, remember that the centre of Barcelona is actually only a 5 minute walk away!
